We’re shining a light on some of the best, most active transcriptionists in the TranscribeMe community! Meet the amazing, hard-working, detail-oriented people from all around the world that make our transcription process the best in the business.

Meet Susan from the United States…

When did you get into transcription?

I became interested in transcribing when I was searching for work options from home, after my kids were old enough to leave me some free time. I was looking for something with enough flexibility to allow me to be there for them when needed, as well as take care of chores around our small farm periodically throughout the day.

Now since starting with TranscribeMe, I’ve transcribed over 15,000 audio and video files for medical, academic and corporate client projects.

What does your typical work environment look like?

I usually work from my large Mac desktop computer in a study, in a remote corner of the house. I’ve been able to slowly invest in better headphones, an ergonomic keyboard, a foot pedal and an office chair to complete my perfect transcribing area.

What else do you like to do when you’re not transcribing?

Photography, cooking, gardening (organic veggies, fruit, and flowers), raising chickens and ducks, knitting, reading, hiking, biking, canoeing, hanging with friends and my kids or watching kids at sports or drama or musical performances.

What’s your favorite tip to get the job done?

Finding a good, dedicated work space away from noise and distractions is always important for me.

What is your favorite part about being a part of TranscribeMe?

I love the flexibility. We can choose when and how much we work. Also, since I recently bought a laptop, I can now travel and take my work along.

Most recently, I was working from a hotel in Quebec City while the kids spent some time exploring on their own (a very safe city!) and then we all hung out watching the Olympics while I worked more in the evening!
